A Review of the Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor Lens

Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro – Nikkor Lens is a revolution in macro photography that introduces the second generation vibration reduction system (VRII). This system has been made especially for the VR Nikkor that allows handheld shooting up to 4 shutter speeds to make sure that still images and videos are sharply captured and minimizes camera shaking. Also, the Nikon 105mm lens features the Silent Wave Motor (SWM), making it a versatile choice for all photographic activity. Users will be able to switch manual operations to autofocus fast and easy. This telephoto Micro lens is the most suitable Nikon lens for both portrait and close up work up to 154mm (at near 1:1)

Another important feature of the Nikon 105mm f 2.8G is that it has Internal Focus that allows speedy yet silent auto focusing with no change in the lens’ length. The high resolution performance that comes along with its Extra-low Dispersion and the Nano Crystal Coat glass elements boosts the total quality of the image captured by deliberately decreasing chromatic aberrations and flare, thereby enhancing the color, clarity and contrast.

Many users rate this lens well in overall performance. There are no real chromatic aberrations or distortions with the lens. Though it is solidly built and bulky, it is not troublesome. It is quite large with an excellent hood. The focus rings and the markings also gained positive ratings from users. This has become one the favorite lenses for many pros. It matches up nicely with Nikon d-slr camera bodies such as the: D40, D40x, D50, D70, D70s, D80, D100, D200, the D1 and D2 series, N5, N75, N80, F5, F6, and F100.

Capturing the elements of a photograph that are out of focus, or what they call Bokeh, is said to be one of the best features of this lens. It makes all out of focus areas beautiful, evenly toned and smooth. Its 9-blade diaphragm aids in rendering out of focus lights. The non-rotating feature also captures the attention of many pros. The lens is very convenient to use and comes with the R1C1 Wireless Close Up Speed Light System and circular polarizing filters.

With all the amazing features of this product, it also has some minor drawbacks. Some users complain about the VR that does not really hold at 1:1. Some also complain about VR degrading with focus distance and the fact that the lens can go into close focus but cannot keep it from looking for long focus distances. In other words, its focus range options are actually limited. Despite these, the overall performance still maintains a high rating from users. When you shoot using this Nikkor lens, you will be surprised by the sharpness of every capture. You can surely fulfill all of your photography needs with the Nikon f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro. Indeed, this lens is a true winner.

A Review of the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

The Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras so far has been a fantastic lens to try out. It produces sharp photographs with vibrant colors and rich contrast. It’s also one of the cheaper Nikon lenses available and would be a great addition to your Nikon Kit after the basic kit lens. The lens is ideally well-suites to photograph sports and low light action photography, however it’s also perfect for portraits (and can be used even for macro shots). This is one of the most versatile lenses in the Nikon arsenal.

Even though you probably want to go out and grab this lens now after my glowing recommendation, I want to also point out some of the limitations withthe  Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor that should be helpful to you while you’re deciding on whether or not to purchase this lens.

Since the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens is a prime lens, while photographing you will be moving your feet a lot in order to frame your image. If you’ve been using a zoom lens primarily this can be a big shock.

In some situations, the autofocus might not be able to focus properly. I usually shoot images in manual, but if you are shooting in autofocus this lens has trouble locking on when aiming at a wall that is one color (white/black) or on a clear sky. If you’re undecided on which lens to get and aren’t sure about getting a fast lens or a lens with VR (Vibration Reduction), I’ll break it down. VR helps overall image quality and tends to produce sharper images than a similar lens without VR. If you’re shooting fast-moving photographs say at a sports game or photographing birds, then the VR feature can end up hindering your speed.

Overall, this lens is incredibly useful to add to your kit (and fairly low cost).

Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Nikkor Zoom Lens Review

AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED lens review

In this Nikon 55-200mm lens review we take a look at all the features that make this lens a possible useful addition to your current Nikon Kit. The Nikon 55-200mm f4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens is an exceptional light-weight, economical, and really just a great all around lens. It has everything you could want to capture excellent photographs with the lens range.

When you hold the lens at first you might feel that the lens has a feeling of cheapness. It’s not heavy like older Nikon lenses and feels almost flimsy (all plastic). The zoom ring has a bit of a light feel to it when compared to other Nikon lenses, and can make it easy to overshoot your intended image, so it might not be the best choice to use for action/sports photography in which if you miss the frame, the moment is over. The focus ring is not as intuitive as it should be on the lens and makes it a bit difficult for fast fine control. You also are required to flip a switch in order to go between manual and auto focus unlike many of Nikon’s other AF-S lenses. Continue reading »

We take a look at the Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens for Nikon Digital SLRS Review

Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

The Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras is a great lens for nearly any occasion. It is designed exclusively for use on a DX body, with a field of view equivalent to a 50mm lens on a full frame camera body. While wider angle and longer telephoto lenses distort the scene, this normal perspective when using a Nikon D-slr makes for more natural-looking photographs. Combined with its wide aperture of 1.8, the Nikon 35mm lens is great for environmental portraits.

This lens renders color accurately, and metering between the lens and the Nikon Digital SLR system are spot on. I always shoot with my Saturation turned down one notch, and results are very good with this lens. The Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras works well in low light conditions. Most people could hand-hold with this lens down to 1/30th of a second and produce sharp images with very little available light. Continue reading »
